About NPHLA
Membership Standards & Code of Conduct
Every NPHLA member agrees to these standards when they apply. They are what make membership meaningful — and what make NPHLA spaces worth being part of.
Standard 1
Integrity
- Provide accurate information about your identity, role and credentials, and keep it current.
- Describe your NPHLA membership accurately. Membership is not a license, certification or accreditation, and must never be presented as one.
- Declare conflicts of interest when contributing to NPHLA programs, content or decisions.
Standard 2
Respect
- Treat every member, staff member and guest with courtesy and professional respect.
- No harassment, discrimination, intimidation or personal attacks — in person or online.
- Disagree constructively: critique ideas, not people.
Standard 3
Patient privacy and safety
- Never share identifiable patient information in any NPHLA space.
- Keep discussion of clinical practice general and educational; it is not a substitute for individual clinical judgement.
- Follow the laws, regulations and professional obligations that apply to your practice.
Standard 4
Community
- Use the member directory and community spaces for professional connection — not unsolicited selling or marketing.
- Respect other members’ privacy choices. Do not share another member’s details without their permission.
- Use the NPHLA name and Member mark only as described in the member mark guidelines.
Raising a concern
How concerns are handled
If you experience or witness conduct that falls short of these standards, contact NPHLA. Concerns are handled confidentially and fairly: the member concerned is told what has been raised and given the opportunity to respond before any decision. Outcomes can range from guidance to suspension or ending a membership.
These standards sit alongside the Membership Terms, Terms of Use and Privacy Notice.
