The public API (v1)

A read-only JSON API over public content only. There is no key to request and nothing to sign up for. Draft, member-only and internal information — including anything about members, survey respondents or media contacts — is never available through it.

Requests and responses

Send GET requests. Lists are paginated with page and limit (1–50, default 20). Every response — including errors — carries a notice with the attribution and reuse terms, and every record includes its canonical url.

{
  "data": [ { "slug": "…", "title": "…", "url": "https://…" } ],
  "meta": { "page": 1, "limit": 20, "totalDocs": 42, "totalPages": 3, "hasNextPage": true, "hasPrevPage": false },
  "links": { "self": "…", "next": "…", "docs": "…/developers" },
  "notice": { "attribution": "…", "license": "…", "terms": "…/developers#terms", "endorsement": "…" }
}

Errors use standard HTTP status codes with a consistent body:

{
  "error": { "status": 429, "code": "rate_limited", "message": "…" },
  "notice": { … }
}
  • 400 invalid_parameter — a parameter is not valid (for example an unknown desk).
  • 404 not_found — no such public record.
  • 429 rate_limited — slow down; wait the number of seconds in Retry-After.

Limits, caching and CORS

  • About 120 requests per minute per client. Responses are cached for five to ten minutes, so polling more often than every ten minutes gains nothing.
  • Cross-origin requests are allowed from any website (read-only, no cookies).
  • v1 is stable: fields may be added, but none are removed or renamed. Breaking changes would ship as v2, announced in advance on this page.

Terms of use

  • Attribution is required. Show “Source: NPHLA” (or “National Pharmacy Health & Leadership Alliance”) wherever you display the data, and link to each record’s url.
  • No implied endorsement. Do not suggest that NPHLA endorses, sponsors, partners with or has reviewed your product, service or conclusions.
  • Keep it accurate and current. Do not alter definitions, statuses or dates in ways that change their meaning; refresh regularly, because records are updated and corrected on the original pages.
  • Third-party material stays theirs. Sources cited by NPHLA belong to their publishers — link to them rather than copying them.
  • Information, not advice. The data is professional information, not medical, legal or regulatory advice.
  • Fair use of the service. NPHLA may rate-limit or block abusive traffic and may change the service.
